SiteRoute

Data trust model for optimizing the flow of information and materials on the digital construction site

Compared to other industries, the construction industry is characterized by a high degree of fragmentation, which has led to isolated solutions, information silos and proprietary data formats. Existing data exchange approaches mostly focus on individual IT solutions between singular parties, without an industry-wide collaboration.

The research project SiteRoute addresses this issue by developing a manufacturer-neutral data exchange model to optimize the flow of information and materials on digital construction sites. This model will serve as an external impulse for the creation of fair, open and transparent information logistics through an uninvolved third party, the data trustee, in order to provide practical evidence that all participants, especially SMEs, benefit from the increased data interoperability of the value creation network.

The project is divided into 6 work packages (WP):

WP 1: Requirements of the digital construction site ecosystem

WP 2: Development of the technical system architecture

WP 3: Development of the practical utilization concept

WP 4: Implementation and evaluation of information logistics in construction practice

WP 5: Creation of a fair financing model

WP 6: Sustainable establishment of the data trust model

The research project IGF 22517 N of Forschungsvereinigung Bundesvereinigung Logistik (BVL) e.V. is funded via the German Federation of Industrial Research Associations „Otto von Guericke“ e.V. (AiF) in the context of the program for promoting Industrial Collective Research (IGF) by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action due to a resolution of the German Bundestag.
