Electric drive technology in automation engineering - selection and design

Lecturer: Dr.-Ing. Peter Stelter
WS   SWS: 2   ECTS: 3 WS   Examination: oral (15 min, German)

The lecture deals with the question of how innovations for the automation of machines and plants representing examples of complex mechatronic systems can be better implemented - especially in the field of drive technology in interdisciplinary, international teams. The focus is on the long-term operation of machines: wear, corrosion, operational stability (cracks), flexibility to adapt to changing boundary conditions, etc. must also be taken into account from the very beginning of the development process. The focus of the course is on the communication of strategies for the selection of suitable drive solutions depending on the requirements of different application domains, their function-oriented modularization and their planned, interdisciplinary reuse. A central aspect is the function-oriented approach in the development process, since functions as a discipline-independent description represent an ideal communication basis for interdisciplinary teams from early development phases on and, further, design errors can be identified by tracing functional chains. In order to ensure the evolution of machines and systems, innovation and technology management is viewed from the perspective of drive technology from the idea to the finished product. The topics are not only worked out from the technical perspective (drive alternatives in comparison to domain-specific requirements within the interdisciplinary development process), but also from the commercial side: Cost centers, cost types, cost analysis (material and process costs) are also topics of the lecture. The contents will be illustrated with practical projects and applications.
