Department Laser Technologies

Laser material processing enables the cost-effective manufacturing of complex products and drives innovation in the fields of electromobility, energy generation and storage, lightweight construction and surface functionalization. The Laser Technologies Department focuses on investigating and further researching a representative range of laser-based joining and cutting processes. The theoretical and experimental design of the processes, the integration of systems engineering, and the implementation and realization of system concepts form the core of this research. In addition, modern concepts for process monitoring and data analysis using artificial intelligence are developed and applied to support process optimization.
