Department Production Management and Logistics

The Production Management and Logistics department develops innovative solutions for the factory of the future: data-driven, efficient, and sustainable. With an interdisciplinary team of experts, we conduct application-oriented research in close collaboration with industry across three strategic research fields:
Production Management
We leverage data-driven methods across all levels of production: from shop floor management to production planning and control, and on to factory planning and supply chain interfaces. Our focus is on AI- and simulation-based approaches for process optimization, layout and scenario analysis, and the fault-tolerant and predictive control of production systems. Our goal is to secure sustainable value creation and increase productivity through intelligent data utilization.
Future-Proof Production Systems
The transformation of production requires new approaches to future-proof production systems: We develop methods for maturity assessment, change management, work design, transformation strategies, and implementation concepts for innovations such as artificial intelligence. In doing so, we design production systems that are resilient and competitive in the long term, integrate innovations, and successfully address global challenges.
Circular Economy
We contribute our expertise to the research field of Circular Economy to support companies in making circular production economically viable, efficient, and intelligent. From disassembly and remanufacturing to reverse supply chain networks, we develop solutions for competitive, circular value creation.
Through the combination of application-oriented research and practice-focused consulting, we develop customized solutions for your production-related challenges together with partner companies. Furthermore, we offer training programs in all three research fields to specifically upskill your team.
Do you have current challenges or are you interested in professional exchange? Feel free to contact us for project inquiries, consulting, or training.
