Heat source modelling for friction press joining
Motivation
Friction Press Joining (FPJ) is an innovative joining process, developed at the iwb in cooperation with Airbus, for joining thermoplastics and metals. Within the framework of the research project, the mechanisms of heat input will be identified and modelled.
Objective and approach
The goal of the project is the development of a semi-analytical model for the prediction and determination of the heat dissipation during the FPJ process, with which subsequently the time-temperature curves at the metal-plastic interface can be determined (and controlled).
