Virtual Verification and Validation
The working group deals with the systematic verification and validation of micro and macro models along the entire process chain. The aim is to transparently map the interactions between coupled and decoupled micro models and to analyze their influence on the macro model response. The research examines which micro models contribute significantly to model precision and how suitable input parameters for defined study areas can be determined.
A central focus is on sensitivity analysis to identify relevant coupled micro models (such as material or friction modeling) and on parameter-based fitting of these models. In addition, decoupled micro models (such as dislocation density or stored energy) are verified and validated using suitable physical measured variables, and their influence on the physical target variables (such as residual stresses or microstructure development) is analyzed, so that a transformation from decoupled to coupled micro model responses is methodologically validated.
In this way, the aim is to separate modelling errors and process-related fluctuations to create a robust database for uncertainty quantification and the further development of coupled process models.
