Under the motto of the Flower Power Festival Munich, around 1800 sports enthusiasts took part in the 9th TUM Campus Run on May 10th. Despite the bad weather, 14 runners from the Chair of Forming Technology and Foundry, utg for short, were also part of the group. The course, distance of 5,5 km running or walking, led around the Campus Garching, the one of 11 km from there to Dietersheim and back. …

At the annual, nationwide career orientation day for girls, professions and exciting fields of study are made tangible. On 27.4. a group of schoolgirls between the ages of 12 and 14 started Girls' Day 2023 at Fraunhofer IGCV and the utg chair in Garching to get to know the everyday work and content of female scientific staff. A day with surprises.

The latest trends in stamping technology and networking within the industry were the focus of the 13th Stamping Technology Congress in Dortmund, organised by KIST e.V. and the utg. On 17th and 18th of April, representatives from industry and research met for lectures, discussions and exchanges on current topics in stamping technology. Two outstanding contributions provided particular impetus.

Traditionally, the Stamping Technology Congress takes place in Dortmund's Westfalenhalle, this year for the 13th time. At the annual event, the latest trends in stamping technology are addressed and presented in specialist lectures. A special highlight this time will be two non-specialist impulse lectures with the central theme "New Work - New Working Worlds". A look at the programme:

Students cannot start early enough to make contacts and gain insights into later, relevant fields of work. Since the summer semester of 2022, the utg has therefore had the idea of a mentoring programme that brings together students and industry from the field of foundry technology. Women in men's jobs? That is no longer something special. And so, as part of the annual "Girls' Day", we present our chair and the Fraunhofer IGCV to interested young ladies. In addition to theoretical information and tours, there are interesting insights into practice. As a special highlight, models formed by the ladies themselves, will be cast.

In December, the second workshop in the framework of the TUM-Aalto Cooperation took place in Finland. The motto: "A Joint Workshop on Sustainability in Materials and Manufacturing". In September 2022, Oliver Zipse, Chairman of the Board of BMW AG, was appointed Honorary Professor at TUM. Now, Professors Wolfram Volk, Rüdiger Daub and Klaus Drechsler were able to present the new colleague with a unique professorial hat at a ceremony.
