Curriculum Vitae
Christina Ahrens completed her bachelor’s degree in engineering science and her master’s degree in medical technologies and assistance systems at the Technical University of Munich.
During her master's degree, she focused on cardiovascular engineering and worked on various projects in this field. At AdjuCor, she worked on the development of an experimental setup for long-term analysis of a biventricular heart assist device, and at the German Heart Centre in Munich she was part of a research project investigating blood flow dynamics in the aorta. Before completing her studies, she collaborated on a research project on a new type of heart patch at the Universidad del Valle in Cali, Colombia.
For her master’s thesis, Christina developed a vascular graft fabricated via melt electrowriting with a focus on the compliant properties of the graft. With the developed design strategy, she created a graft with a tunable compliance profile.
Since May 2024, she is a research assistant at the Chair of Medical Materials and Implants, where she is working on the development and optimization of vascular grafts via melt electrowriting.
