FTF - Forming Technology Forum
The Lastest Research in Forming Technology
The FTF - Forming Technology Forum is an annual conference on current topics in forming technology. It is held alternately in Twente, Zurich and Munich.
The FTF sets itself apart from other similarly focused conferences with its highly interactive, supportive and collaborative environment that is achieved by keeping the number of parallel sessions to a minimum and encouraging lively discussions after each talk. It is common that the discussions continue at the conference dinner and strong international bonds are formed between the participants.
All About Blanking
Two days of intensive discussions on “all about blanking” lie behind the participants of this year's 15th Forming Technology Forum - FTF.
In over 20 presentations, the speakers provided in-depth insights into the latest developments.
Interesting and lively discussions on each presentation again confirmed the highly interactive, supportive, and collaborative environment of the Forming Technology Forum.
The AutoForm Poster Award offered five young scientists the opportunity to present their topics in 5-minute talks in a poster speed dating session.
The main prize, an iPad of the latest generation, was won by Felix Georgi from TU Darmstadt with his poster on the topic: Comparative analysis of in-situ wear detection in forming processes: optical vs. thermo-electrical methods.
Congratulations to felix and many thanks to our main sponsor AutoForm.
Wolfram Volk and his Team would like to thank all participants and our sponsors AutoForm and H.-W. Raedt von prosymalis for two exciting days in the beautiful landscape of upper Bavaria.
We look forward to the next FTF 2025, then again with Ton van den Boogaard in Enschede/NL.
Two days filled to the brim with excellent presentations and intensive discussions on the main topic of “Determination and validation of material parameters for sheet metal simulation” were attended by outstanding scientists and numerous experts from industry.
International forming technology experts exchanged their latest findings at the 12th Forming Technology Forum - FTF in Herrsching am Ammersee in beautiful autumn weather. The topics “Non-proportional load paths”, “Determination of flow-curves”, “Simulation of forming processes” and “Innovative determination of material parameters” were discussed in particular depth.
Dedicated young researchers presented their topics in a special poster session: in a kind of pitch, the candidates did their best to convince the audience of the core message of their projects in just 5 minutes. Alexander Barlo, PDM Technology Denmark, delivered the best performance, winning very narrowly ahead of Ali Mousavi (2nd place) and Johan Pilthammar (3rd place). Mr. Killer, representing the main sponsor AutoForm, presented Mr. Barlo with an iPad in recognition of his performance.
Thanks to the financial support of our partners AutoForm, Zwick/Roell, Hexagon-FTI, gom and DYNAmore, we were able to organize an all-round successful conference. Prof. Dr. Volk, Prof. Dr. Hora and Prof. Dr. van den Boogaard would like to thank all guests, sponsors and the team of the “Haus der bayerischen Landwirtschaft” for two scientifically exciting and enriching days.
