In July 2020 the authors Manuel Stölzner, Michael Kleeberger, Marcel Moll and Johannes Fottner won the Best Student Paper Award with their publication "Investigation of the Dynamic Loads on Tower Cranes during Slewing Operations" at the International Conference on Simulation and Modeling Methodologies, Technologies and Applications. In the award-winning paper, the dynamic stresses acting on tower cranes during the slewing operation are analysed. Using a newly developed vibration model, it was possible to calculate the actual component stresses with a significantly enhanced accuracy compared to conventional design methods.
