In our latest research project, "AutoDis," we are investigating the potential for automation in dismantling processes, especially in the component-by-component reprocessing of smart meters. The aim is to develop a lean, energy-efficient, and automated disassembly line for returned products in order to optimize the circular economy strategy of the meter manufacturer Lorenz GmbH & Co. KG. The project contributes to the circular economy by reducing high manual labor, promoting sustainability, and saving resources. By "reusing," "refurbishing," and "remanufacturing" circular products, we extend their life and minimize their environmental footprint.
