Deployable reflector antenna for cubesat missions

Problem

Cubesats were primarily envisioned as educational tools or low cost technology demonstration platforms for aerospace applications. However, recently they have  been also developed for scientific and commercial aerospace missions. Due to the limited space available, it is however often difficult to integrate large antennas into the satellites. In this project a deployable boom for a reflector antenna is going to be designed. The design innovative phase is guided by product development methodologies as well as  quantitative top-down approaches as Solutions Space Engineering. Having concluded the design phase, a lightweight boom is designed using classical structural optimization techniques.
