Last week, the final Partner Advisory (PA) meeting for our research project SiteRoute took place. This event marked the successful conclusion of the project, in which we, together with industry experts, have shaped the future of the digital construction site. At the core of SiteRoute was the conception of a solution to the fundamental problem of data silos in the construction industry. Our goal was to develop a neutral data hub that enables fair, open, and sustainable data exchange, thereby improving the information flow on site.
Final Highlights & Project Insights:
- Openness as a Core Principle:
SiteRoute acts as a neutral entity, inspired by the proven agrirouter technology. Through open standards like ISO 15143-3 and compliance with the Data Act, we create transparent rules and guarantee data sovereignty for all participants. - From Concept to Practice – The SiteRoute Demonstrator:
Our demonstrator impressively shows how data from various sources – such as @Bauer machines or telematics modules from Syniotec – can flow seamlessly to different applications, including the Max Bögl IoT platform, Traccar for fleet management, or open tools like Google Sheets. - Broad Support & Desire for Participation:
The PA discussions revealed a clear industry demand for active participation in such a solution. The need for a fair, transparent financing and governance model was also confirmed.
What's Next?
While the research project is coming to an end, the work on the SiteRoute vision moves forward. The next critical step is the sustainable establishment of the platform to make the digital transformation of the construction industry a reality. Further meetings on practical implementation are planned with our industry partners and the associations VDBUM and Bauform.
