Munich Symposium on Lightweight Design

Call for Papers

Every year since 2003, the Technical University of Munich, the Universität der Bundeswehr München and the University of Applied Sciences in Munich have been inviting researchers and experts in the field of Lightweight Design to the Munich Symposium on Lightweight Design. The Symposium aims to bring together experts from both academia and industry to discuss new developments, processes, and possible applications within Lightweight Design research. This year’s Munich Symposium on Lightweight Design will take place over three days as an in-person event at the participating universities. Participation is free of charge. The registration link will be provided a few weeks prior to the events.

We invite all interested researchers and industry practitioners to present their work. Please submit an abstract of your presentation until August 31, 2026. You will be notified about acceptance by September 03, 2026. Presentations can be submitted in German or English (preferred). In addition, every accepted speaker is invited to submit a written contribution (full paper in English, 4 to 12 pages) by January 11, 2027. Submitted papers will undergo a review. You will receive a separate notification of acceptance by January 25, 2027. Accepted papers will finally be published by Springer as part of the Proceedings of the Munich Symposium on Lightweight Design 2026.

An abstract or short description of your presentation can be submitted via the Springer Meteor system. The template and guidelines can be found here. Contributions may address, but are not limited to, one or more of the following topics:
