Curriculum Vitae

Jan Niklas Dreessen received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Molecular Biotechnology at the Technical University of Munich. In his studies, he put a strong focus on cellular and tissue science in the pursuit of tissue engineering.

During his time as a Master student, he spent a semester at the NTNU in Trondheim, Norway, further building on his understanding of tissues and organisms with courses on nanomedicine and systems biology. In research internships during his time at TUM, he worked on tissue engineering in natural scaffolds, as well as colonic and small intestinal organoids.

For his B.Sc. at the School of Life Science in Freising he worked on gene knock outs in chicken cells that would increase the infection response of embryonated eggs. He did his M.Sc. at “Klinikum Rechts der Isar” on macrophage-bacteria interaction and infection modelling with a focus on 3D visualization, building an imaging and analysis platform around a novel microscope in the process.

Since October 2023 he is working as a research assistant at the Chair of Medical Materials and Implants focused on engineering endothelium and taking care of the cellular side of tissue engineering.
