For the third time in a row, the Chair of Applied Mechanics was part of the holiday program “TUM female explorers: STEM experience at the university” – and once again inspired girls aged 13 to 15 to take an interest in technology and robotics.
Under the title “LOLA's Adventure: Experience How Robots Are Shaping Our Future”, twelve participants spent three days diving into the exciting world of robotics. They experienced modern technologies such as motion capture, robotic arms, and our humanoid robot LOLA up close – and were able to get creative themselves! They eagerly choreographed their own dances to create short animated films. The robotic arms became little builders who – programmed by the participants – built figures out of wooden blocks. At the end, each participant designed her own LOLA figure, which found its place on a pedestal she had designed herself using CAD.
Of course, there was also plenty of fun to be had: a pizza party, a visit to the legendary parabolic slides, a detour to the ix-quadrat exhibition, and an exciting campus tour rounded off the program.
The entire team – participants and supervisors alike – looks back on three exciting, educational, and fun days.
We are already looking forward to the next time during the summer vacation in 2026!
