SME Digital-Center Augsburg

Increasing competitive pressure and the growing number of global competitors demand a high level of innovation and thus a willingness to invest and take risks. While large companies in many cases can absorb risks in research and development financially through their sales volume, it is not possible for small and medium-sized companies to bear these risks alone with the same degree of innovation. Innovative breakthroughs in the field of digitization and sustainability, such as the use of artificial intelligence or the implementation of a circular economy, are currently difficult to achieve for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) without professional and company-specific support.

With the funding provided as part of the "Mittelstand digital" initiative, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) supports small and medium-sized enterprises in the implementation and use of digitization, networking and the implementation of sustainable solutions. By overcoming deficits in the area of data collection and use, the aim is to open up new working methods, products and value-creation processes for SMEs, which are particularly characterized by their flexibility and inventiveness.

Based on a physical center at the Augsburg location as well as on the expert hubs in Garching near Munich, Regensburg, Munich and Nuremberg, the SME Digital-Center supports small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the field of digitization by offering a wide range of services. Because of the funding from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, SMEs can take advantage of these offerings free of charge.
