As one of the largest production engineering research institutes in Germany, the iwb encompasses three chairs at the TUM School of Engineering and Design in Garching near Munich. The Chair of Sustainable Production Systems, the Chair of Machine Tools and Manufacturing Technology, as well as the Chair of Production Technology and Energy Storage Systems define the research topics and core focus areas of the iwb. These lie in the areas of Additive Manufacturing, Battery Production, Laser Technology, Assembly Technology and Robotics, Sustainable Production, Production Management and Logistics, as well as in the field of Machine Tools.
