The winners of the CAD competition of the summer semester 2021

The winners of theCAD competition in the summer term 2021 have been announced! They include the ScanMate, a customized inliner protector, the BeerProtect a beer mug lid to go, an ergonomic and customized pair of ski goggles with interchangeable lenses, and the Ergo-Bikinator 3000, an ergonomic bike handle with air vents to ventilate hands while riding. The prototypes are on display at the professorship.

In the course CAD Basics & Innovation Assessment, students learn about various rapid prototyping processes and tools for creating custom products and evaluating innovation. In doing so, they go through all the necessary steps to design a customized 3D-printed product for a 3D-scanned body. The seminar begins by teaching the basics of creating and editing 3D scans. Then the scan is processed in CAD software and a customized product is designed for the scanned object. The participants then learn the basics of 3D printing and can print the products they have designed.

The highlight of each semester is the competition, where students present their products in short videos or pitches. Congratulations to this year's winners!
