As every semester, the SpGM takes 15 students to the Zugspitze for 3 days as part of the course "Methods Seminar Sports Technology ". Students spend the night in high alpine surroundings at an altitude of 2650m in the "Schneefernerhaus" research station.
In preparation for this excursion, various research questions on the subject of outdoor sports (especially cycling, skiing and running) will be worked out together and made methodologically accessible. Prototypes of sports equipment as well as measuring devices can be used and/or new products on the sporting goods market can be evaluated in scientifically oriented practical tests. Both objective data (material characteristics, biomechanical or physiological parameters) and subjective evaluations must be included. This semester, the focus was naturally on winter sports. A snow depth of 2.7m on the Zugspitze was more than sufficient for this ;-)
