Theory
In the morning, the students were able to gain insights into the foundry technology of the Fraunhofer IGCV:
- sand analysis
- microscopy
- 3D printing of sand moulds and
- casting simulation
Practice
In the afternoon, these topics were put directly into practice in the utg hall. Together they moulded an owl casting model in sand. This went much faster than planned, as more hands are known to be faster. Of course, the mould was cast afterwards so that each participant could take home an aluminium owl as a souvenir.
Highlight at the end
Together with the supervisors, the day ended with an utg-typical foosball game. We hope the students had as much fun on this day as we did. We are already looking forward to next year.
