Rolling Element Bearings
Rolling bearings locate axles and shafts, absorbing the radial and/or axial forces and simultaneously allowing the shaft or the mounted components to rotate. At the same time, the friction and, thus, the power loss should remain as low as possible.
At the bearing-power-loss test rig of the FZG, the bearing freewheeling and bearing power loss performances of arbitrary bearing arrangements can be measured. The results can be used to validate standard calculation methods for determining the bearing power loss of rolling bearings. In order to close the resulting gearing losses, the losses of those installed in the test rig stock must be taken into account accordingly. The wear and friction behavior of rolling bearings depends on the lubricant used. Lubricant samples must be evaluated on the FE-8 rolling bearing lubricant tester following DIN 51819 to determine the wear protection capacity.
