- know HTML5/CSS3/JS programming concepts - implement executable web applications

Beschreibung

The Interaction Programming Block Course is implemented as a massive open online course (MOOC) on edX.org. Over 6 weeks students will interactively learn the basics of web programming and prototyping (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, ...). A new section will be released every Monday. Students work through the sections self-sufficiently. At the end of every week, students have to upload their solution to a programming challenge and review each other’s work. The course takes place during 6 weeks of the semester break.

Inhaltliche Voraussetzungen

Beneficial is a basic knowledge in the area of software development, programming (Java, C, ...) or web page design. All necessary techniques (JavaScript, HTML, CSS) are taught during the "Interaction Programming Practical Course". Visiting the course is voluntary but recommended for programming beginners (passing the exam is mandatory). Lack of experience has to be supplemented by (time-consuming & independent) self studies.

Lehr- und Lernmethoden

Part I, the Interaction Programming Block Course is split into theory (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Transitions, ...) and practicing the implementation during turorials. The entire course format is held as a massive open online course (MOOC), giving students the ability to work self-paced through the different challenges. The block course (time span of six weeks) allows for a integrated and individual learning process, as it is scheduled in the last six weeks of the semester break.

Studien-, Prüfungsleistung

As an outcome of the Interaction Programming Block Course, the implementation skills and programming understanding (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) will be assessed by the practical exam (3 h, first week of the semester). This is an open-book and open-internet exam, the students will bring their computers and create a small programming project (e.g. a weather application). This will be graded according to binary requirements (e.g., “title bar content appears white”). Achieving 50% of the total requirements is sufficient for passing.
