Research Groups
The Chair of Ergonomics is organised into five research groups that together span the spectrum from Systems Human Factors and Ergonomics (HFE) to Cognitive and Physical HFE. The groups provide an interdisciplinary forum for research, discussion, and publication while addressing complementary scientific and application-oriented challenges.
Under a common Human Factors and Ergonomics perspective, the chair addresses safety, efficiency, user experience, and comfort across a wide range of sociotechnical systems.
Four research groups are primarily organised around application and design domains: automated driving, future work systems, healthcare robotics, and cabin design. Their research spans the development, evaluation, and deployment of human-centred technologies and systems.
ReSyst complements these application-oriented groups through a dedicated methodological and systems-oriented perspective. The group develops explainable functional models, measurement concepts, and engineering principles for adaptive sociotechnical systems. While application domains provide empirical environments for validation and theory testing, ReSyst focuses on generating transferable models, methods, and design knowledge that can be applied across domains.
