Personal Protective Equipment in Sports and Occupational Environments: Measures for Reducing and Monitoring Thermal Stress and Strain
Abstract:
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) impairs the body's heat exchange with its environment. High thermal stress is accompanied by a reduction in work performance and endurance. This thesis presents two technical solutions for reducing thermal stress on the head. In addition to helping reduce thermal stress in PPE by means of cooling, three sub-studies will analyze commercially available equipment, as well as new technical and model-based solutions for noninvasive monitoring of human thermal strain.
