Biometrical Assistance: Adjusting the Motor Assistance of Pedal Electric Cycles to the Physiological Capabilities of the Cyclist
Abstract:
This dissertation presents the development and validation of control systems that automatically regulate the heart rate of riders of pedal electric cycles. Therefore, they facilitate healthy physical activity and independent mobility for individuals with limited physiological capabilities. The systems also lay the foundation for new energy management systems that consider the individual needs of the cyclist and, in consequence, facilitate or enable cycling for individuals with physiological and biomechanical limitations.
