We are grateful to CISM, International Centre for Mechanical Sciences for having our colleagues attend the "27th CISM-IUTAM International Summer School on Sports Physics and Technology" in Udine, Italy, and for gathering together renowned researchers in the physics of sports in order to give exciting lectures on using the technology in sports.
Modeling the movement in sports was addressed by the lectures on: the energetics and biomechanics of the human locomotion, neuromuscular function and fatigue, the cost of running and its interaction with endurance, and the physics of races. The sport equipment was targeted by the lectures on the technology, mechanics and materials used for the development of sport apparel and footwear. The lectures on probability and synthetic control addressed the processes of decision-making in sports.
