3D-Printing Parameter for Selective Laser Sintering (EOS Formiga 100)
Parts printed in already assembled configuration:
The parameter explained here were valid for a EOS Formiga 100 after calibration using unused PA powder.
In case that components are printed on the SLS Formiga 100 in an assembled configuration, I recommend to have
- a minimal wall thickness of 0.5 mm (flexible such as wood veneer of the same thickness)
- usable stiffness comes with 1.5 mm thickness
- the outer radius of a bold must be 0.3 mm smaller than the radius of hole (slot=0.3mm) in this case heavy force and torque is required to loosen the connection after printing.
- if the outer radius of a bold is 0.4 mm smaller than the radius of hole (slot=0.4mm), some force and torque is required to loosen the connection after printing.
- if the outer radius of a bold is 0.5 mm smaller than the radius of hole (slot=0.5mm), the parts are completely separated after printing, but have a reasonable play.
Parts printed to be assembled afterwards (PA):
In case that components are printed on the SLS Formiga 100 to be assembled afterwards, I recommend to have
- a minimal wall thickness of 0.5 mm (flexible such as wood veneer of the same thickness)
- usable stiffness comes with 1.5 mm thickness
- the outer diameter of a bold can have the same inner diameter of a hole (slot=0.0mm). There is some friction but it will disappear because of the compression of the particles when in movement.
